Well that’s interesting!!! Some time back I was reading an article on the BBC news website about how the King of Saudi Arabia travels extravagantly (I’m not even gonna mention the number of people who were ‘outraged’ with the king’s extravagance and attributed it to the ‘wasteful Arab lifestyle’!) so i guess this bit about Bush tells us that extravagance and wastefulness has nothing to do with being Arab; its just the one of the perks of being the leader of a nation!

fijate si tiene que proteger a alguien tan peligroso como ese idiota. Sinceramente creo que seria mejor que lo hagan mierda y que todo lo que necesitan para protejerlo lo usen para la gente que lo necesita de en serio

No, this is not an extravagance or perk. It is a neccessity, for security reasons.

Not to mention that the personal chef and four cooks are ninja trained with black belt karate to maginally turn into body guards right? All is necessary for a security reasons….

To B,
That’s what they’d like you to believe.

You can call this “Bush’s Entourage” but it’s the president’s entourage. Doesn’t matter who the president is, unless you are trying to score points against Dubya on a personal level.

I’m with C here. Sure, each President needs security, and I don’t blame him for the motorcades and decoy planes. But does he really need to bring 200 government workers, 150 security advisors, and 50 political aids??? It does seem a bit excessive…
That’s like me bringing Arnold, Denzel, and Lou Ferigno with me to the gym every time I want to work out.

homunculus is correct, it’s not as if Bush decided this would be his entourage. He’s not the first president to drag a small village around with him when he travels.

What did Clinton’s retinue look like? I don’t disagree that it MIGHT be the “standard”, but I don’t know that, either.

For those interested. Every American president has an entourage this size, however it does seem to grow a little every year. See that Wikipedia page for the Secret Service.
