Just in case you ever want to expand on this list, I always use Architag Xray for .xml editing.

It has a simple GUI and is, of course, free.

XML notepad is also offered as free ware. This is a download from the Microsoft web site but I’m sure you could find it else where. Even though i don’t use it in a productive sense I’m sure it has all the functionality of the one in the list and more. Thanks for the post will be checking out a couple of these.

I use Crimson Editor as well, and highly recommend it. Another good free image/video viewer is Irfanview (although it does have problems with .avis…)

When using a notepad app, I always use Crimson Editor, but I’ll try Notepad++

I don’t use Windows but this is a good list.

I am a big fan of mplayer on Linux and it is nice to see SMPlayer on your list. I will have to recommend this over VLC which I have done in the past.
