Brilliant document of two world views meeting! And who is getting the most from it? Well the show did at the time, but Cage lives now……
The comment about the Unions contributing to the substance of the show reminded me of the time when I was showing a video art piece on television in Britain in the early 70s, and the Unions refused to touch the non-broadcast standard machine I had used….. so switching it on became part of the performance, a recording of an actor friend laughing continuously for 15 minutes – they only ran 5 minutes, but it was sufficient to lead into the discussion about community access to broadcast television channels. But that’s another story….

Garry Moore did an impressive job with this. Super -respectful of something he certainly didn’t understand — in the ’50’s.

I just showed this to my 13 year old son, who is a composer & musician. He was intrigued! Thanks for the memory of what was one of the most popular TV shows in USA in the 1950s.
