Not ironic – sad. Asbestos was used for part of the construction, until the City of New York banned asbestos in spray fireproofing. Above the 64th floor, asbestos was not used, and lead in no small part to the collapse of the buildings. Asbestos would have saved lives. Environmentalist junk science concerning asbestos cost lives.
