“Liquid Sculpture is the process of creating shapes by dropping and splashing water, or other liquids. These sculptures are then photographed, since they last only a few thousandths of a second”.

These are remarkable. Showing the creative beauty of liquids.

These droplets are like taking a trip to another world. You can do this with a macro lens, but I’d imagine that it would take a lot of trial and error if you did this in regular light.
What I think happened is the subject (cup and droplets) were shot at with the shutter open for several seconds in a very low light situation…

he should go an extra step by using computers to analyze the photos so actual glass sculptures can be made from them.

For those that may not know, such photos were first taken by Harold Edgerton at MIT. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doc_Edgerton for more info. In particular, see the Milkdrop Coronet.

Actually, the seminal work was done by A.M. Worthington in the late 1800s. Search for “A Study of Splashes”. He used an electric spark as a flash. Edgerton certainly is the one who popularized the technique (and invented the xenon flash tube).

The photos are clear and unique. These are definitely done by a skilled photographer who enjoys his work. I enjoyed looking at them and would enjoy them on my library wall. Keep up the good work.

It is not the droplets that are so outstanding, rather the very moment itself. So it is true, it’s all in the timing….soooo beautiful, thank you

Love the “lips”.
It makes you wonder what other magic is out there – if only we would notice.
Also, the cleanup and color are exceptional.
