Antonín Dvořák – Czech music’s most internationally famous composer, Dvorák wrote operas, orchestral and chamber works, choral music, songs and instrumental music.

The Symphony No. 9, opus 95, “From the New World”, popularly known as the New World Symphony was composed in 1893. It is by far his most popular symphony, and one of the most popular symphonies in the modern repertory. Dvořák wrote it during his visit to the United States from 1892 to 1895. Neil Armstrong took this symphony to the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission, the first Moon landing mission, in 1969.

The second movement, Largo, could be easily recognized, and almost everyone should have heard this at least once.

This performance, conducted by Kiril Kondrashin with Vienna Philharmic Orchestra, is one of the finest performance of the New World Symphony. Highly recommended.
