Project HALO – High ALtitute Object

Cool project by Alexei Karpenko: launching a full-with-helium balloon into near-space.

My project launched a payload with GPS, camera, sensors and communications to an altitude of 30km. I obtained most parts ready years ago, but only recently had time to finish it.

His blog is full with pictures and videos of the journey, from launching to landing. With such enthusiasm and good engineering, who needs to be a millionaire and space traveller to enjoy these great views?
