Randi has been debunking psychics and other quacks
for quite a while. I first heard of him when he was a consultant on an Alice Cooper tour in the 70’s. He designed the fake guillotine execution that Alice used to do.

Hilarious… Bob Barker uses his polite snarky voice to put this kid to shame…

    What’s more incredible here is:
James Randi looks better today in 2007
than he did 30 years ago. Is James
    Randi immortal?

Bob Barker, just listen to the man. What a voice.

    Love that guy.

Ha ha! That queer got owned hard. I think he would have had a better chance of sucking a fart out of his own ass with psychic powers than this crap. Love the haircut too.

Seriously, I was suprised when I saw Bob Barker looking young, but the fact that Randi looks almost exactly the same makes me think that he IS immortal and the $10,000 challenge is just his idea of a joke

I like how Hydrick says ‘once more?’ right before he pulls the static electricity b.s. Trying to convince everyone he did it ‘once’ already when, of course, he hadn’t.

Petzi may be on to something, but on the other hand James Randi may have just been born old. Actually, it seems that most of his aging (in appearance) took place between early and middle adulthood, and since then he appears to have been in a stasis field. At the James Randi site there are, almost buried, 4 pages of his photos beginning here http://xrl.us/vean (Link to page at http://www.randi.org). Worth looking at.

The James Randi foundation, URL below, continues to debunk frauds and conmen. The reward is now up to $1 million. Many have publicly claimed they are psychic, but then refused to be tested. The few which have been tested failed miserably. Read more at …

Haha, James Hydrik is biting his fingernails at the end (you can see him in the corner, in the background behind the judges).

According to wikipedia this guy admitted years later it was all a hoax. He learned how to blow air deceptively. Where did he have the time to learn this?? You guessed it… while in prison.

I remember seeing this when it first aired. James Hydrick was making the rounds on various TV shows at the time with the phone book trick and so I had seen him a few times prior to this. But that was the first time I saw James Randi and I’ve been a fan of his ever since. Good stuff. Thanks for putting that up.

Why didn’t Randi cover the psychic’s mouth to prevent him from blowing on the phone book?

I remember seeing Hydrick on TV once too… He was being interviewed about his ability to do this, and was wearing a microphone clipped to his collar. The interview went on for a few minutes, and then the interviewer whipped out a phone book and said “can you show us?”

Hydrick said sure, and proceeded to try and set it up. But on his first attempt, just as the page moved, you could hear a burst of static from his microphone. Just like you would hear if someone fired a jet of air near it. Hydrick immediately went into his “too much static” in the environment schpiel, and tried to say he couldn’t do it if he was wearing the microphone due to the forces not being right.

    Schmuck.

Oh, and Al, the reason Randi didn’t cover his mouth is that it would require him to touch the subject being examined. Randi’s solution in this case was rather ingenious.

Although if I were Hydrick, I would have turned the page anyway, and claimed any moved styrofoam was the result of the force of the psychic blow given to the page, or claimed that the psychic force couldn’t be controlled finely enough to pick up just the page and not the styrofoam around it.

Goes to show how disingenuous some of the tricksters are, just like Randi says.

Randy is just another side of the coin with regards to Hydrick. He is an arrogant prick who draws out suckers like he is. He has proved nothing other than you see what you want to see. He sees fake, he often gets fake. No one of real ability of any kind would seek out such an egotistical, cynical self hater like Randy. The man, like Penn and Teller, truly need to at least get laid.

I love the showmanship he had; all the posturing was quite amusing. However, it didn’t quite draw attention away from the way his face fell when he saw the styrofoam…!

for the victims of Randi’s monstrous idea…….

    Visit:

    http://www.centerforinquiry.net/forums/viewthread/3283/P0/

to see how we stopped James Randi’s fraudulent MILLION DOLLAR challenge…..

watch carefully the consequences of Randi’s *idea*…..

For over 40 years James Randi Zwigert (is this even a REAL NAME?) has had total control over who and how the testing was conducted, yet despite all this he has terminated the challenge.

The ONLY REASON why the challenge was stopped is because he lost and refused to pay.

Apparently, Randi likes to break the rules when it serves him:

    http://www.randi.org/joom/content/view/40/32/

“14. This prize will continue to be offered until it is awarded. Upon the death of James Randi, the administration of the prize will pass into other hands, and it is intended that it continue in force. ”

    Great force…..it’s over……

where is my MILLION DOLLARS, you LITTLE *NO-NAME* FRAUD

    Just something to check out:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sblPQWKHOY&feature=related

Watch – stop the film at 3:56 – start and WATCH!
James will turn his head around, [not looking at the pencil or camera] also, his hands are on his lap… while like this, the pencil moves.

Watch 3:56 to 4:00 over and over — James is NOT using his breath nor his hands and the pencil moves…. I can’t explain it, maybe someone else can.

James IS a pedophile. – Still a bit shocking and very sad. As far as an illusionist, James is very GOOD at it.

Please show the public Randi where the million dollars is under escrow? Or are the funds smoke and mirrors?

Wow. I remember watching this when it originally aired. I must have been around 9 years old. I can vividly remember feeling a bit conflicted after watching it. On the one hand I felt sorry for James Hydrick, yet at the same time felt like he was caught cheating, so shame on him. Over the years I used to ask people I knew if they remembered seeing it but no one had. I eventually figured I’d dreamed it. Thanks a lot for the memories. And god bless you James Randi.

James Randi is a God among men. I just hope there’s someone worthy enough to pass the torch to when he passes. Thank you Amazing Randi for your great work.
