A battle between a pride of lions, a herd of buffalo, and 2 crocodiles at a watering hole in South Africa’s Kruger National Park. Something like 300 in the wild life.

Great video..
May 23rd, 2007 10:07
I wished those stupid tourist would shut up.
May 23rd, 2007 10:27
AMAZING! I know “circle of life” and such, and that the lions must eat — but it did feel good to see the buffalo come back and reclaim their own and scare the lions away.

May 24th, 2007 23:54
Those are wildebeast, not buffalo… There are no buffalo in the Serengeti. Nice video, though.
May 24th, 2007 23:57
Whoops–I take it back. Those are African Buffalo.
My bad.
May 25th, 2007 00:39
Serengeti? I clearly states South Africa, not the Serengeti. You should visit the Kruger National Park some time. It has to be one of the most awesome places on Earth. I get shivers just thinking of the place. Wow, nature………..
May 25th, 2007 00:50
I will not be buffaloed. This video is lion and a crock. Seriously though, if this was a Hollywood script, it would be unbelievable.
May 25th, 2007 11:25
Those are Cape Buffalo.
May 25th, 2007 12:44

Its a great work, together is power, good one, never seen before, enjoyed!!!!!.
May 29th, 2007 20:37
Gr8 team work. Once again it goes beyond doubt that UNITED THEY STAND ( & DIVIDED ANY ONE FALLS) always remains a fact even in the animal world. Xcellent capture by the ppl who shot this.Rarest of the rare category.
May 29th, 2007 21:29
Hm, the tourists were rooting for the cows and not the lions. That’s strange. I was cheering on the lions.
May 29th, 2007 23:37
moooooooo
May 30th, 2007 19:53
What a vid! That’s one tough, lucky (or unlucky, depending on your POV) little calf.
June 1st, 2007 07:55
Whoever said lions can’t fly?!
June 1st, 2007 16:00

June 2nd, 2007 10:51
An amazing video. We are currently camping at Berg En Dal in the Kruger Park & visit Transport Dam every few days.
Shows what being in the right place at the right time is all about.
Well done – lets hope your video attracts more tourists to our fabulous Kruger Park

An Amazing video of the power of herd instict prevailing over adverse situation

June 3rd, 2007 00:57
I LOVE this video! I felt full of hope all day after seeing it and I watched it again to give me a boost! I imagine the leader of the herd ‘talking’ to the others, “Hey you guys! There’s only 6 of them and 200 of us and we’re bigger! Let’s go get the baby!” And darned if they didn’t do just that!
You know, it occurs to me that this is a metaphor for the way the world is going with the few wuper wealthy in charge (lions) and the rest of us buffalos) feeling helples. If we could get it together, we could get our country back.
Animal world teaches the humans.
June 3rd, 2007 20:52
watch the power of herd instinct over any might in this world and an eye opener which shows the way that so called non-thinking animals baffle and defy the thinking animals contention of strategy and planning shown so beautifully in this video clipping even humans unarmed cannot plan and strategise on the spur of the moment and execute it so well and achieve their objective so masterfully challenging human thinking brain to execute such an act of strategy and so well and instantaneously
Mind blowing Video clipping

This video is amazing! I’ve been to the Kruger Park and saw a cheetah killing an impala. It was an awesome experience to witness the “Circle of Life”. This video is a million times better than what I saw. Whoever said it was photoshopped is an idiot. If you have the time/money, I’d highly recommend a visit to the Kruger Park!
June 4th, 2007 16:37
As far as I know, the baby calf did not make it through the night.
June 5th, 2007 03:09
Great learnings to be had from this outstanding video. It was fun to see the role reversal for a change. It seemed the lions had lost their basic character under the buffalo onslaught. Have you ever seen lions run for cover? Mice would be chuckling! That’s what the power of unity for a just cause does.If only the have-nots of this world get together the way buffaloes did, against the self styled rulers and demand their rightful place, this world would become a much better place to live.
June 5th, 2007 03:11
Wonderful insights into values and strategy.
June 5th, 2007 10:37
that was so cool but it was very surprising that the baby calf survived because it was being puled by 2 crocodiles and 6 lions like a tug-a-war rope and who new loons could fly!!!
June 5th, 2007 10:39
i meant who knew lions… not who new loons
June 5th, 2007 13:14
Xellent capture….Great work
June 6th, 2007 06:12
This was a great movie. Really enjoyed it. Makes me want to go! We have some good rafting videos at http://blog.aorafting.com.
June 6th, 2007 13:26
It is not fare just closing the window after seeing this great video. Also I dont think none would go untouched by heart by seeing this amazing story. I didnt see any such video on even discovery, nation geography, or any other. Really appreciate the cameraman for his really rare luck, and beutifully covered the entire thing. Really superbly convered all episode in one stretch. It would be much more good if he used a tripod.
Go ahead for further hunting……
June 8th, 2007 19:43
Really amazing
June 8th, 2007 23:09
The herd needed the water hole to themselves. Didn’t surrender to the mighty Lion and recovered their calf in the process. They know their power is in numbers that is how they have survived. Power to the united masses!!!.
Saw something similar with elephants turning tables on a pride of lions in a NG video.
June 14th, 2007 04:30
Taking prey for any big cat is not easy, this why they are only really successful with very young, very sick, or very old animals. If a big cat is injured in a kill it will most likely die of starvation.
Human hunters will take the strongest and biggest at a safe distance with a high powered rifle.
June 15th, 2007 02:54
Congrads!!
You captured a rareity in the making. This is what we as film artist, hope to acomplish. The substance of your video is unreplaceable….Good job!

June 15th, 2007 04:02
would have been better if you could edit out all the tourists yelling in the background.
June 15th, 2007 04:05
hey cochin it would be much more ood if you would apreciate it!!!!
June 15th, 2007 04:05
i meant good!!!
June 15th, 2007 13:24
The most incredible video i have ever seen from Kruger – and the commentary was wonderful for a South African far from home – delighted, enthralled, thrilled, amazed. Got to hand it to the Buffels. I wonder if the calf survived.
June 16th, 2007 05:18
That ROCKS!!! GREAT video!!!
June 16th, 2007 16:32
Nature in it’s rawest form.
What fantastic footage & it must have been a privilege for those people to watch it live.
June 17th, 2007 13:39
great film…excellent.couldnt believe coz usually once the king of the jungle gets you…you are toast, but big up to the buffs…they came back to claim thiers…and did it successfully.
wonder if the young buff survived, hope he did.
was hoping that the buff would thow one of those lionessess in the water with the croc…lol
that would have been funny to capture.
June 20th, 2007 21:32
Excellent footage. Contrary to earlier comments, I think the tourists’ commentary makes the film more believable. Sure hope the calf survived, but it had to be in pretty bad shape after this ordeal.
June 24th, 2007 21:19
Incredible footage of REAL life and death. No script, no dubbing, nothing but the real life reactions of wide eyed tourists watching what has to be the most dramatic and inspiring clip I have ever seen.
Congrats to the camera man who caught all of the appropiate action. I know I would have wet myself seeing this live.
June 24th, 2007 22:25
Congratulatios and thanks for share this amazing video
June 26th, 2007 04:10
Amazing footage because we humans don’t get to witness mother nature in action very often. To the buffalo, croc’s and lions….just another day in their life. Lions are the buffalos number one enemy (croc’s and humans are the only other ones, not counting hoof & mouth disease) and the cape buffalo are lions first choice on their menue.
June 27th, 2007 13:18
wow, absolutely amazing!!!!
June 28th, 2007 10:18
shows that evolution think bout the primtive wilderbeast int true lol those minds made straterge and that comes from a creator God
July 2nd, 2007 19:36
Who ever the dum tit is that said the video is Photoshoped should be photoshopped himself. And yes, it was shots in Kruger Park and not Serengeti. And the buffalo is only buffaloe and not Cape of ater buffalo.
It was great to see who the drama unfold. Keep it up.
July 15th, 2007 01:10
Unable to view the video but enjoyed reading the
comments of those who viewed it!

July 20th, 2007 12:18
Great example of the survival instinct at play. The buffaloes (first in search of food/water), the lions, the crocodiles, and the buffaloes again.
Thanks for filming and sharing. You allowed nature to take its course and just observed nature’s drama unfold. Good for you!
July 22nd, 2007 04:01
I was struck by the limited intelligence of the buffalo. They greatly outnumbered the lions, and were they a bit smarter, would have known to completely surround the group of lions and either kill them or drive them into the water to be fend with the crocodiles.
I guess that’s one reason why monkeys, rather than buffalo, eventually invented the internet.
July 23rd, 2007 09:21
The calf was lucky that cats play with their prey before eating it, otherwise it wouldn’t have survived until the rest of the herd came back. I agree with the person who said the buffalo were dumb; they practically walked right up to the lions at first!
July 25th, 2007 20:09
Some one said the calf didn’t make it through the night. Is that true? Does anybody have any updates on the little guy?
July 30th, 2007 03:20
It died a slow & painful death, with puncture wounds & bad infections, maggotts got into the the blood & could not walk anyfurther without the sickening screaming sound of a dieing calf. The croc got the rotton meat back once the scent got out. tenderised & ready to eat.
August 8th, 2007 20:03
What did the one lion say to the other lion – HKGK.
August 9th, 2007 04:34
An absolutely incredible piece of footage and filming. A demonstration of nature and life at its best. One otowf the basic function of life is to survive and the other to pass on the genes.
Survival is avoiding being eaten on one hand and finding something to eat on the other both clearly demonstrated here by the baffaloes the crocodiles and the lions.
Just beatiful and incredible!!! Thanks for sharing.
August 10th, 2007 21:34
This is an amazing video i have ever seen.
This is the best and good example of unity.
buffalo Family done the good job.The best scene is that lion is flying by buffalo. Also great job of photographer.
August 12th, 2007 06:56
An amazing video, I really enjoyed it. Fact is thought,…that calf probably did die from the injuries it recieved. Sad but nessesary for the full circle of life…
August 12th, 2007 14:09
Incredible……..Wonderful…..Amazing……
INSPIRING………BE TOGETHER…. Union is strength……Let’s learn from wild animals….
August 12th, 2007 15:38

nice website
September 1st, 2007 14:40
oops!!!! theregoes my food.. just think you are damn hungry and you sit to eat and your food runs away….
September 7th, 2007 04:35
One of the most amazing wildlife videos ever…..
September 18th, 2007 03:20
As far as i know, lions are afraid of the water, and they will never jump into it. Why did the pride all jumped into the water without hesitation just to maintain hold of the prey?
September 18th, 2007 10:48
the one who took the video must have lots of money because of this video…shame on the lions…congrats buffs!
September 22nd, 2007 23:03
Absolutely amazing. South Africa rock on!

May 9th, 2008 23:37
holly cow!, i never thought that would be possible, the lions are the bullies who eat the buffalo, wow, incredible. way to stand for yourselves buffalo
May 10th, 2008 20:50
The buffs appeared to be hesitant at first to attack the lions, but they have learned they can fight and survive – fearing no one. The baby may have died, but the herd (and future babies) will last because of this experience.
May 16th, 2008 10:13
I think society could learn a few things from Mother Nature. It takes a whole village to watch after and nurture our young, and protect them from predators such as drug dealers, pedifiles and the like. The whole herd came to fight for the life of the one child. If we want to save our children from self distruction and out of harms way. Our children are our future, God help us if they continue on as they are, for they will throw us older folks to the lions.
February 4th, 2009 21:04
So the lions go hungry. what do they eat order a takeaway pizza? Next time the prey wont be lucky
March 13th, 2010 15:27
fantastic rare video by the daring tourist. i thank them whole heartedly,by visualizing what is the true strenght of unity.
